One of the things I've really enjoyed about doing this web page is discovering other peoples' blogs. Some of these are friends and some are just blogs I enjoy reading. The list is in no particluar order.
- Andy and Michelle Casad are friends that used to worship with me at church. They have, alas, moved to North Carolina. Andy and I did some teaching for the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) and I've always been impressed with his thoughtfulness and the depth of his spirituality
- Fr. Dominic DeLay, OP is a priest at my church. He is also a film producer and these are his thoughts. This is just one part of his web page. He's done a few films and it's worth looking at his whole page.
- James Floyd is a member of my church. I stumbled on his blog a few months ago and enjoy (but don't share) his passion for all things Star Wars. I'm even mentioned in his entry for 9 January 2006.
- Karen Francis-McWhite is also an alumnus of my church. She developed this page while at Duke University. She's now at Highline Community College in Des Moines, Washington
- Alicia Parlette is a copy editor with the San Francisco Chronicle. In March 2005 Alicia was diagnosed with alveolar soft part sarcoma, a rare form of cancer; she was 23 at the time. Since then she's been writing a blog about her experiences living with this. I first heard about it from a story on National Public Radio. Alicia is an excellent writer but I need to warn you: don't read this just after you put on your make up.
- Julie Powell is an author; she wrote a book that Nancy and I read called Julie and Julia : 365 Days, 524 Recipes, 1 Tiny Apartment Kitchen about her quest to make every recipe in Julia Child's Mastering the Art of French Cooking. Most of the book is taken from the blog she wrote during the project and it's pretty amusing.
- Andrew Sullivan writes a blog on the Time magazine page. He's a conservative but he's also gay and he writes a pretty balanced blog. I don't always agree with what he writes, but I do read it and encourage others to do the same.
- Steve Vaught, also known as "the fat man walking" is walking across America. In April 2005 he decided that he needed to turn his life around; he weighed over 400 pounds and was only 39 years old and he decided that if we started walking he would lose the weight. It's been a long journey and not all of it has gone well but he's keeping a journal.
- Wil Wheaton's blog is another one we found from reading his book Just a Geek. Wil played Wesley Crusher in Star Trek: The Next Generation. His blog is a good one, and he's the one who introduced me to the casualty counter on my home page.
